VOLKSWAGEN is going even more upmarket with the all-new version of the Passat, which is due to hit showrooms later this year. Soon buyers will be able to include a plug-in hybrid and an all-new 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel among their forecourt options, as VW goes chasing after its sister company Audi. Weight-saving measures have chopped up to 85kg from the new kid on a like-for-like basis, which helps achieve VW's stated efficiency boosts of 20% versus equivalent outgoing Passats.
The Goodwood Revival will host the Freddie March Memorial Trophy for only the second time. It's a 90-minute endurance chase that will run into dusk on Saturday 20 September

The 2008 Goodwood Revival this autumn will be even more of a throwback to the ‘good old days’ of motor racing, the organisers promise. The Revival celebrates two milestones this year – the 60th anniversary of motor racing at the Goodwood circuit and the tenth anniversary of the Revival itself.
It's been almost a year since General Motors announced the end of the road for Pontiac. While the century-old brand has now joined Oldsmobile, Plymouth and a long list of other iconic makes in the automotive afterlife, the collector market remains more alive than ever. A lineup of 27 classic Pontiacs, including 17 GTOs, will cross the auction block in June.
